Motorrad Riders Limited – Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions (“T&Cs”) set out the rights, responsibilities, and expectations of membership for Motorrad Riders Limited (“the Club”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). By voluntarily joining or participating in any Motorrad Riders activity, you agree to abide by these T&Cs as well as the Motorrad Rider’s Code of Conduct.

1. Membership Purpose

Motorrad Riders Limited is established to organise and promote social motorcycle rides, trips, events, and related activities exclusively for its members. Motorrad Riders operates as a volunteer-run, non-profit community and has no commercial or training function. Participation in all Motorrad Riders activities is entirely voluntary, and members choose to take part at their own discretion.

2. Eligibility

Membership is open to individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • Must be aged 18 or over
  • Must hold a valid motorcycle licence if riding
  • Pillion riders are welcome to join Motorrad Riders through the rider/pillion joint membership
  • Must agree to abide by these T&Cs and the Motorrad Riders Code of Conduct

Membership is issued to individuals only and is not transferable to other persons.

3. Conduct & Safety Expectations

All members are individually responsible for their conduct during any Motorrad Riders activities. Members must:

  • Ride responsibly, courteously, and within their personal skill level
  • Comply with the Highway Code and all applicable UK road laws
  • Ensure their motorcycle is road-legal, taxed, MOT-compliant, and insured
  • Follow reasonable instructions from ride leaders, marshals, and event organisers
  • Treat fellow members, volunteers, partners, and the public with respect at all times
  • Avoid conduct that could bring damage Motorrad Riders reputation or interests
  • Be familiar with all Motorrad Riders riding guidelines and safety briefings
  • Use of OMR name/logo by members

Important: Motorrad Riders does not provide rider training. All riders are fully responsible for their own safety, decision-making, and risk assessment when participating in group rides.

 

4. Group Riding Guidance

To ensure safe and organised group rides, members agree to:

  • Attend the pre-ride briefing and understand the planned route and ride leader guidance
  • Participants are always responsible for their own safety and the safety of others including guests.
  • Ride leaders will provide information at the pre-ride briefing and may adapt guidance according to local conditions such as weather, traffic, or roadworks.
  • The ride leader is entitled to decide who can participate on a Motorrad Riders ride and may if necessary, ask a participant to leave the ride.

It is expected that all participants will be safe and legal to ride with insurance and will conform to all UK traffic regulations.

5. Experience & Competency

Members are responsible for ensuring they have sufficient riding experience to participate safely in any given event. Ride leaders may, at their discretion:

  • Recommend that a member join a different group based on ability
  • Decline a member’s participation if their skill level presents a safety risk
  • Offer guidance, but cannot provide training

6. Liability Disclaimer

Motorcycling is inherently risky and may result in injury or death. By joining any Motorrad Riders activity, you acknowledge and accept that:

  • You ride entirely at your own risk
  • Motorrad Riders, its volunteers, officers, and ride leaders accept no liability for any loss, injury, damage, or claim arising from your participation
  • You are fully responsible for the safety and condition of your motorcycle, your riding decisions, and compliance with the law

This disclaimer does not exclude liability where it cannot be legally excluded.

Members agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Motorrad Riders, its organisers, and volunteers from any claims, liability, loss, or damage arising from the member’s personal actions, conduct, or statements – including those made or carried out during Motorrad Riders events.

7. Events, Rideouts & Trips

Certain events may require advance booking or registration. Participation may be subject to limits on numbers, safety considerations, or the discretion of the organiser. Ride leaders may decline participation if a motorcycle, rider, or pillion is assessed as unsafe. Members are required to confidentially notify event organisers of any relevant medical information. Unless specifically stated otherwise, members are responsible for their own fuel, costs, and personal arrangements.

8. Partner BMW Motorrad Retailers

Motorrad Riders operates independently and is not managed by BMW Motorrad UK or any BMW Motorrad retailer. Motorrad Riders may work with partner BMW retailers to further the interests of Motorrad Riders and its members. Any benefits, discounts, or events connected to BMW Motorrad retailers:

  • Are provided solely at the discretion of the retailer
  • May be changed, suspended, or withdrawn at any time
  • Are beyond the control of Motorrad Riders.

9. Communications

By joining Motorrad Riders, you consent to receive:

  • Essential membership updates
  • Event, Rideout and Trip information
  • Operational communications regarding Motorrad Rider activities

You may opt out of non-essential communications such as newsletters. 

Motorrad Riders may use members’ photos on social media/website.

10. Membership Fees & Renewal

Membership is valid for the period specified at the time of purchase. Membership will automatically lapse if not renewed by the expiry date. Lapsed members forfeit access to Motorrad Riders events, communications, and benefits until their membership is renewed. Membership fees are non-refundable, except where an administrative error has occurred.

11. Social Media & Online Conduct

Members are expected to:

  • Engage respectfully on Motorrad Riders-managed forums and social channels
  • Refrain from posting abusive, defamatory, discriminatory, or inflammatory content
  • Not share confidential Motorrad Riders information or private member details without permission
  • Not claim to represent the Motorrad Riders online unless authorised to do so

The Motorrad Riders reserves the right to remove posts or restrict access as appropriate.

12. Disciplinary Process

Motorrad Riders may investigate any allegations of:

  • Dangerous or reckless riding
  • Abusive, harassing, or discriminatory behaviour
  • Misconduct at events
  • Breach of these T&Cs or the Code of Conduct
  • Actions potentially damaging to Motorrad Riders reputation or interests

Possible outcomes of such investigations include:

  • Verbal or written warning
  • Temporary suspension from Motorrad Riders activities
  • Removal from events
  • Termination of membership without refund

Decisions made by the Committee or Officers are final.

13. Suspension or Termination

Membership may be suspended or permanently revoked for the following reasons:

  • Repeated unsafe behaviour
  • Serious breaches of conduct
  • Criminal activity connected to Motorrad Riders events or activities
  • Refusal to follow organiser directions
  • Any action deemed harmful to the Motorrad Riders or its members

14. Data Protection & Privacy

Motorrad Riders will process all personal data in accordance with applicable UK data protection legislation. Information provided by members will be used solely for Motorrad Riders administration and the organisation of events. See the Motorrad Riders Privacy Policy.

15. Changes to Terms

Motorrad Riders reserves the right to update these Terms and Conditions as necessary. Members will be notified of any significant changes, and continued participation in Motorrad Riders activities will be regarded as acceptance of the revised terms.

16. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising under these terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

17. Document Review

All documents are reviewed according to the Motorrad Riders review policy.
